Arts funding

April 4th, 2011 by MuskegPress

At the end of March, Premier Christy Clark announced a $7 million boost to the arts through provincial gaming grants, which increased funding up to $120 million. That brought the funding to 2008 levels. There are still groups that are ineligible for funding: any arts group that falls outside of a fair, festival or museum, or is not a youth arts group, does not qualify for provincial gaming grants.

Home to musicians, performers & dancers alike, Prince Rupert is definitely an artistic community, and many groups in town have been affected by the funding cuts. With that in mind, we’d like to know where you stand on arts funding.

How much funding should arts groups receive from the provincial government?
